DIY Holly Golightly Halloween Costume

Like many other women out there I love the movie Breakfast at Tiffanys. Audrey Hepburn’s iconic role of Holly Golightyly is still one of my favourite movie characters of all times so when I was thinking of possible Halloween costumes to make this year she was an obvious choice.

Instead of the iconic black dress and pearls outfit she sported while having breakfast outside of tiffany’s I decided to recreate her sleeping outfit, which includes the most beautiful eye mask and tassel earplugs.

Eye Mask:

For the eye mask you will need:

 Gold trim

Tiffany blue fabric

A cheap or old eye mask

Magazine cover (not shown but this will be used for the eye lids)

Glue gun and fabric safe hot glue sticks

Step one:

Use your eye mask as a template to cut out the perfect shape of your tiffany blue fabric

Once you have your fabric cut out, carefully hot glue it to the eye mask

Step two:

Next you are going to lay your trim around the eye mask. I couldn’t find a metallic gold trim so I layered two to give me a more similar look to her hers.

Step three:

To give the eyelids of the mask more structure I used a magazine cover to create the shapes I wanted them to be and then covered the shapes with the same silky blue fabric.

Once I had the eyelid shape covered and added gold trim to mimic eyelashes I glued them down to the eye mask,

*Tip* I needed up having to re do this step because once the mask was on my face the eye lids looked too far apart. I would suggest taping them down first then looking at it in the mirror to see if you like the placement before gluing it down.

After this take a thin gold trim and uses it as the eye brows and glue them down using the hot fabric glue.

Once this is done remove the elastic and replace it with two strips of gold trim as the ties.

Now your eye mask is complete!

Tassle Earrings

For the tassels you will need:

Step one:

To make the tassel earrings I used 12 6 inch strips of purple jewelry cord

Step two:

I then folded the strips in the middle and attach one piece of the cord to an earring fixture.

Once they were even I wrapped another 6 inch strip around the group of cords to create a tassle. Which I then secured with crazy glue

And now your costume is complete!

Finish this look off with her teased pigtail hair do and a large mens dress shirt and you are good to go

Hope you liked this super easy Halloween DIY! Leave any suggestions of DIYS in the comments below and I will try to do them. I have 2 more costumes planned so keep your eyes out!
